The long-awaited open-world dystopian game will feature some amazing cars. However, only one will resemble the original.
CD Projekt Red recently unveiled a trailer showing different types of vehicles in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game. Among them, only one car is real — Johnny Silverhand’s 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo.
Cyberpunk is an open-world game set in a dystopian future. The tale takes place in a fictitious town called the ‘Night City’ with six distinct regions. Players assume the first-person viewpoint of a customizable mercenary known as V.
Moreover, the player can acquire hacking and machinery abilities, an arsenal of ranged weapons, and melee combat capabilities. It’s one of the most eagerly-awaited games in recent times.
In the trailer, we can see five classes of vehicles specifically designed to meet various needs — Economy, Executive, Heavy Duty, Sport, and Hypercars.
Being an open-world game, you can inherit vehicles after earning money. You do that by completing various in-game missions or jacking them out of the streets.
Meanwhile, in another video titled “Revving Up Night City” by the game developers, we can see how they designed the engine sound. They arranged a team to work with the car mechanics to position microphones optimally and capture audio in the most precise way possible.
Polish driver Tomek Czopik was the driver behind the wheel of all 40 different cars used as a reference. Models such as Lexus LFA, Porsche 911, Ford Fiesta Rally, and various other off-road vehicles had the sole purpose of preserving internal-combustion engines’ nature. However, just one car stayed true to the real-life version – the 930 Porsche 911.
Cyberpunk 2077 recently posted on their Twitter, saying, “Every legend needs a car just as legendary as they are. For Johnny Silverhand, there can only be one choice: Driving through the streets of Night City in an iconic Porsche 911 Turbo hailing back to the 1970s. “
The game will launch worldwide on 19 November and will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. However, we expect that CD Projekt Red will launch a version for next-gen consoles later.
