If you weren’t impressed with the launch of the new Bronco, wait until you see the Raptor version.
While the Bronco Raptor was still just a rumor, we now have confirmation as one of Ford’s employees leaked the sports SUV on LinkedIn.
Bruce A. Richter mentioned the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Sports SUV on his profile. Oh, and the guy is an EDS (Electrical Distribution System) Engineer.
Bruce stated that he is “Currently designing EDS (electrical distribution system)—schematics for 2021 Bronco / 2023 Bronco Raptor”. He removed the mention not long after; however, many of its followers had already taken screen captures of his mistake.
Rumors have it that the Bronco Raptor will come equipped with a twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. While the Bronco’s stock 2.7L engine produces 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, Ford might tune it to 335 hp, just like it did with the Edge ST crossover.
However, rumors also suggest that Ford might also use its 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, developing well over 400 hp. I won’t put my money on this one, but I’ll certainly hope.
Additionally, the off-road model will feature bigger tires, more aggressive bodywork, and higher clearance. Of course, the price is expected to be much higher than the $30,000 price tag of the base model.
Although there is no official confirmation yet, the Bronco Raptor will hopefully arrive by 2022. And who knows? Ford might surprise everyone by improving the model even further, as the standard Bronco is already quite hardcore.
Whatever they come up with, we’ll take it, right?
